- Cost

- Prerequisites
- None formal. GIAC notes that practical work experience helps ensure mastery, and lists incident responders, SOC analysts, threat hunters and forensic analysts as the target roles.
- Format
- One proctored exam. 82 questions, 3 hours. GIAC's page states a 64% passing score for exams released on or after 25 July 2026 — a date-scoped figure, so confirm the mark that applies to your attempt.
- Length
- Exam only. The associated SANS course is titled around enterprise cloud forensics and incident response; we could not confirm its FOR course number from the GIAC page, so treat the course code as unconfirmed.
- Renewal
- Four-year cycle. 36 CPE credits plus a $499 renewal fee; additional renewals within two years of a full-price renewal are $249.
- Accreditation
- GIAC states it is an active accredited ISO/IEC 17024 personnel certification body through ANAB.
- Who it suits
- A practitioner whose caseload has moved into Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and cloud infrastructure and who needs the log-side method done properly.

Strengths
- Addresses the fastest-growing gap in practical forensics: evidence that exists only as provider-side logs, where there is no disk to image.
- Very little competition — few accredited credentials cover cloud evidence acquisition specifically.
- Same ANAB/ISO 17024 accreditation as the rest of the GIAC family.
Limitations
- Newer than the rest of the family, so employer recognition is thinner and fewer hiring managers will know what it is.
- Cloud provider log surfaces change faster than any exam blueprint, so a version of this credential ages quickly.
- The published passing score is scoped to exams released on or after a specific 2026 date, which means the figure you find today may not be the one applied to your attempt.
- Recurring $499 renewal every four years.
