Strengths
- Autopsy itself is free and open source, so the skill costs nothing to keep using afterwards — unlike EnCase or Cellebrite training.
- Taught by the people who build the tool.
- A certificate of completion that can be applied toward CPE requirements.
- Because Autopsy is open source, the method is inspectable, which matters when you have to explain what a tool did.
Limitations
- The price is not published on the training page, so the course cannot be budgeted from the site.
- Not a beginner course: it assumes you already know forensic fundamentals.
- One day on one tool. It is training, not a credential, and it is not a substitute for method training.
