Strengths
- Genuinely practical and vendor-neutral: a 48-hour hands-on exam is a much harder thing to fake than a multiple-choice paper.
- Two tiers, so there is an honest entry point and an honest senior step.
- The underlying lab platform is built from realistic incident scenarios rather than abstract puzzles.
- Considerably cheaper than the GIAC route, on every reported figure we have seen — though we could not verify the price ourselves.
Limitations
- The price is not published, which is a real strike against it in a field where cost is the main barrier.
- Renewal terms are not published either, so you cannot tell what holding it will cost over time.
- No third-party accreditation, and much thinner employer recognition than GIAC or IACIS.
- Challenge-platform assessment rewards finding the answer; it does not test whether you could write a report that survives a Daubert challenge.
