Strengths
- Four GIAC certifications included. Bought separately at $999 per attempt, the certifications alone are about $4,000 of the price.
- Accredited graduate credit in 18 to 24 months rather than the three to five years a master's takes.
- Credits can generally be applied toward a longer SANS.edu programme later, so it is not a dead end.
- NSA CAE-CD designation and stated DoD 8140 approval, which matter for federal and contractor hiring.
- It is the one academic programme here that is genuinely digital-forensics-specific rather than cybersecurity with forensics attached.
Limitations
- At about $1,900 per credit-equivalent it is roughly five times UCF's in-state rate and nearly three times UMGC's — you are paying a large premium for the GIAC bundle and the SANS courseware.
- Requires a current information-security role, so it is closed to career changers.
- 12 credits is a certificate, not a degree, and will not satisfy a job posting that requires a master's.
