Cracking the Digital Case: Digital Forensics
Our introductory course on what a digital forensic examination actually involves and what a lawyer should ask for, expect and challenge in one.
Offered by Legal Cyber Academy
Disclosure
This is one of our own courses, and we are paid when someone buys it. It is listed here on the same terms as everything else in this directory — with its real limitations stated below — because a directory that hid its publisher’s own offerings among neutral recommendations would not be worth reading. Several entries on this page cost less than ours, and some cost nothing.
The facts
- Cost
- $19.99 one-time with lifetime access, or included in the $49-per-month all-access subscription.Figure read 2026-09-12 from www.legalcyberacademy.com/courses/cracking-the-digital-case-digital-forensics
- Prerequisites
- None.
- Format
- On-demand video, with a certificate on completion.
- Length
- A single short sitting, self-paced.
- Renewal
- No renewal or recertification requirement is published for this entry.
- Accreditation
- None. We are not an accredited continuing-education provider and this course is not pre-approved for CLE credit anywhere.
- Who it suits
- A lawyer meeting digital forensics for the first time who wants a cheap, fast orientation before a matter starts.
- Audience
- Lawyers & in-house counsel
Strengths
- $19.99 with lifetime access is about as low-risk as paid training in this field gets.
- Orientation-level by design, which is the right register for a lawyer who needs to know what to ask rather than how to do it.
- Pairs naturally with the free Federal Rules of Evidence reading in this directory.
Limitations
- Introductory. It is orientation, not depth, and an experienced e-discovery lawyer will already know much of it.
- No hands-on component and no assessment of your work.
- No accreditation and no guaranteed CLE credit.
- Anyone who needs to conduct examinations should be looking at the certification and free-practice entries in this directory instead, which cost more and deliver much more.
